so do the guns actually fire blank rounds, where do the gun fire sounds come from?

narr they just fire light, mags are electronic and hold 60 rounds. But they are made from real mags, so you have to eject and slam home a new. at end of match or respawn they have a device which bobs on to top of mag to recharge/refill as it were.
everything else is electronic, such as gun noise and near misses also hits, gun is connected to a pack on your back via bluetooth.
